Spicewood  Campus Spelling Bee Results

Around 30 Spicewood students put their considerable spelling talents on display in the campus Spelling Bee on January 14th. The competition lasted for 24 rounds over 3 hours, and excitement ramped up as there were several chances for the championship word. Srikar Bandreddy spelled 'Arugula' correctly to win the 2019-2020 Spicewood Spelling Bee, and Anoushka Basu finished as the first runner up. Congratulations to them both!
Special thanks go out to our Spelling Bee Chair Herschal Trivedi, who worked incredibly hard getting the program together, Ellen Tuthill, who did a fabulous job as the pronouncer, and our judges Lakshmi and Rebecca. Also a big thank you to our parent volunteers, as well as our Spicewood staff, Ms. Cruz and Mr. Catuogno, who all gave generously of their time in helping us conduct the competition.

One World, One Night

Would you like a chance to travel the world without buying a plane ticket? What would be better than to give our students and their families a passport to cultures around the world? Please join us for OneWorld One Night on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm at Spicewood Elementary.

At the festival you will find tables hosted by fellow Spicewood parents sharing their cultures by exhibiting artifacts and traditional clothing, teaching crafts and games and providing culinary samples. Last Spring the event featured Korea, China, Israel, Ethiopia, Philippines, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Italy, Peru, France, Bahamas, India, China, Ethiopia, Korea, Iran and more. Each year the number of countries grow and we encourage all cultures at Spicewood Elementary to consider participating in this “One World One Night” Festival. It is a great way to introduce our students to cultures from around the world and embrace the IB education.

We have something new at OWON this year - we will have short cultural dance performances by dance groups from various countries during the event. Students will get to see and enjoy dance forms from all around the world.

This event can not be possible without your participation, if you would like further information or are interested in participating in this event, please do not hesitate to email us at Spicewoodoneworldonenight@gmail.com
