 Spicewood Gala & Auction

 

Thank you to everyone who donated, sponsored, attended and/or purchased items at the Spicewood Gala & Auction on Friday!  It was a big success and we were able to raise over $45,000 for our school! The proceeds will go towards supporting our many PTA programs and some special projects that were voted on during auction, including new headphones for the laptop carts, safety radios for administrators, and new books in the Literacy Library (with an emphasis on Spanish books and books for the higher levels/older grades).

 
Auction Winners - We have several items waiting for pick up - please head to the Volunteer/PTA room on one of the dates/times below. Please note ALL winning items require pick-up (as even gift certificates have rules and restrictions). Thank you again!

Thanksgiving Pies for Teachers 

 

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we are seeking volunteers to provide whole pies or other desserts for our teachers and staff at Spicewood. This is an easy way to let them know how thankful we are for all they do to teach and care for our children. Please deliver your desserts to the library on Thursday, November 15th between 7:30a- 2:45p.

Adopt the Spicewood Teaching Garden

Thank you to all of the families and groups who have signed up to take care of our Teaching Garden this year!  But we still have some opening!  Please consider adopting the garden for a week; we need some volunteers over the holiday break. 

 

This is a great opportunity for your family to be a part of this special addition to our school.  It also allows you and your family a more personal, hands-on experience in the garden.  Your weekly responsibilities will include: watering, weeding and maintaining the garden.  As a reward for volunteering, you will be able to harvest some of the vegetables/herbs that are ready for picking and enjoy them at home!

Also, we are trying to break down the messy compost pile in the garden. Feel free to bring a bucket (or more) and bring some home for your own garden!

 

 

Spicewood PTA Bylaws and Standing Rules Proposed Changes

 

Our current Bylaws and Standing Rules were last approved in December 2015 and January 2016, respectively.  By PTA rules, each must be reviewed every three years. When reviewing both documents, the PTA Executive Board found some areas where we felt it would be beneficial to make revisions in order for our PTA to run more effectively, or because Texas PTA requested verbiage changes.  

 

We encourage all of our members to read through our suggested changes to both our Bylaws and Standing Rules and to attend our PTA General Membership Meeting on Thursday, November 15th at 6pm in the library to vote on whether to adopt the proposed changes.  If you have any questions regarding the proposed revisions, please send me an email (spicewoodpresident@gmail.com).
